Policies

The ServSafe book (and answer sheet inside) carry a $70 value that is non-refundable once placed in the mail or given to the student. Materials are shipped and tracked through USPS and are the responsibility of the student once the USPS tracker indicates they have been delivered. Anyone not able to locate their packet once delivered will need to purchase a new one. Students can always opt to pick their materials up from our office instead of having them mailed, but must make us aware immediately upon enrollment (via email at martin@rvafoodsafety.com).  Students enrolling within 5 business days of class must pick their book up from our Lakeside Avenue location. Please contact us to arrange pick-up (martin@rvafoodsafety.com).

Enrollees may cancel their enrollment and receive a full refund (less any applicable book fees) but must cancel at least 5 days prior to their original start time for class in order to receive a refund.

Students may transfer their enrollment to a different session but may do so one time only. Transfers are not accepted within 48 hours of the start time for class or later.

Students who do not attend their scheduled class will not receive a refund or transfer. However, students missing class due to a last-minute illness or emergency may receive a one-time transfer with verification such as a physician's letter. Last-minute transfers are at the discretion of RVA Food Safety and are not guaranteed.

Students who either miss their scheduled session or wish to transfer to a different session within 48 hours of the start time of their class have two options: 1) At no additional cost, a student can attend any future session they would like if there is still an opening in that session within 72 hours of it's start time. It is the responsibility of the student to contact us to check on availability within the 72-hour window, and there are no guarantees there will be openings within any particular time frame. 2) Students may purchase a new enrollment (full-day students exercising this option can do so for $89 instead of $159 if they still have their book and answer sheet).

RVA Food Safety reserves the right to cancel any sessions not meeting minimum attendance requirements (typically three students) or in case of instructor illness or emergency. In case of cancellation, students are able to either transfer to a different session or receive a refund (less any applicable book fees). Students will be notified of any cancellations due to insufficient enrollment at least 48 hours before class.

In case of instructor illness or emergency, students will be texted or emailed (using the information provided at registration) as far in advance as possible. It is the student's responsibility to check for any such messages prior to coming to class.
